Manila House

In 2013, we visited the site of the Manila House. It was an amazing experience to walk in the same rooms described by Bienvenido Santos in his short story, “Manila House.” Since then we have learned more fascinating stories about this place–once the center of community life among Filipinos and Filipino Americans in DC–and together with RMCF and PALM, worked to designate the Manila House as a Literary Landmark through the American Library Association (ALA). It is the first Filipino-American Literary Landmark designated by the ALA and the fourth Literary Landmark in the District.

We are looking forward to the Dedication Ceremony this Saturday. See you there!
